Rhapsody is very bad
23 October 2014

I've been with Rhapsody for 5 years. Started because I didn't know that much about downloading to an MP3. After 5 years I know even less, not user friendly at all, support is absolutely useless, expensive. My friends can't believe I'm still with them! Well now I'm not, after constant problems with useless support, I'm done. Creating your own library of favorite music is supposed to create a pleasant experience, but Rhapsody has turned it into a nightmare and on top of that you have to pay for it! I have made it a personal mission in life to get my friends and all others I come across to ditch this service!

In summary, I would not recommend Rhapsody to a friend.

It's Great for Some Purposes

I have had Rhapsody for 8 years. I listen to a lot of music either at work, in my car, at home on my PC or TV, or in my music studio. If I had to pay $0.99 for every song I listen to, I'd be broke within a year. Rhapsody allows me to listen to a wide variety of music and multiple versions (covers and copies) of every song for nothing more than my subscription.

Truth be told, after 8-tracks, cassettes, CD's and DVD's, I'm just done building libraries and catalogs of personally owned music. With Rhapsody, I own millions of songs for a fairly small annual fee. I never burn a song because what I listen to on one device, I can hear on my other devices, and I don't need to listen to music outside of these areas. The songs I play are automatically downloaded to my harddrive for quicker playback the next time.

Granted, this works for me. Maybe it's not for everyone, but for me it's a great service. It has NEVER failed me. It has never cut off in the middle of a song, for example. ... (Read the full review)

Going Down Hill

I have subscribed to Rhapsody for about 6 years. Four of which I have used Rhasody To Go. I was happy with the service. About 2 months ago things at Rhapsody began to go bad. My complaint is in the catagorizing of the genres. The first problem was that "New Releases" under specic genres didn't appear. After some emails and phone conversations they came back. HOWEVER, whoever is doing the classifying hasn't got a clue. To find a title of "Dirty and Naughty" under the Classical genre seems a bit absurd. There are a few dirty and naughty people in the classical world, but they don't label their music as such. This is just the most extreme example, but one that is easy to identify. In essence, their classification process is shot. Calls to customer service yield nice people in Asia who do a lot of "Sorry for the inconvenience we have casued you and I can surely help." But they don't I think the problem is in Seatle at the USA headquarters. I have sent enough emails with no change to the problem that it's... (Read the full review)

Real Crap

I switched to Rhapsody because I was having to many problems with Bearshare and their disappearing purchases. I have had nothing but issues with the player and the MP3 feature. Many of the songs just won't play or drop off in the middle and on the MP3 side it won't put the whole playlist on the player and will delete songs completely from you hard drive without being instructed to. Plus you have to pay for the subscription for the streaming and to put it on your MP3 player. And if you want to download to your hard drive well then you have to purchase the song in addition to your subscription! BAD purchase! Amazon MP3 is the way to go.

In summary, I would not recommend Rhapsody to a friend.

Real Rhapsody Rip Off

Yes it is nice to be able to listen and download music without paying for each individual track. The selection and customer support is great. However here are my problems with it: 1) You download the subscription track and decide to buy it, you now have 2 copies on your computer. You use another application ie iTunes or Windows Media Player that application wants you to get rid of your duplicate files but you have no way to know which were your subscription or your purchased tracks, so you end up deleting the wrong ones and losing the ones you bought. Also if you try to import your music into the Rhapsody application (if you like several genres and have a lot of music) The Rhapsody program will completely freeze and you have to shut it down so it won't work at all-and it's difficult to delete files from your library if you can't even keep the program running. I would personally recommend using Amazon mp3. They have just as big of a selection, no subscription fees, plus the added bonus of backing up your purchased tracks for you off of your... You have to pay additionally for music, what's the point in paying 9.99 a month when I can just pay the same for music on Itunes. No thanks.

I have had Rhapsody for over 10 years and it has been a very very good site and a good value. The Rhapsody-to-Go feature is a great asset and I use it a lot. I purchase .mp3s from other sites for a better price for songs I need to share. There is also the Rhapsody online version that allows you to access your playlists, search, and play songs without the Rhapsody SW. No evidence of disappearing files as long as your subscription is up to date. They converted to .wma from .mp3 a few years ago however and recommended backing up purchased files.

In summary, I would recommend Rhapsody to a friend.

Rhapsody is bad

The Rhapsody service software comes with many MP3 players and most people are much more willing to install a service that comes with a new electronic device.

This service offers a large amount of music for a low monthly fee (usually $9.99 now). What they don't say is that this is a streaming music service and does not allow music download without additional cost per item downloaded. Additionally, the software does not allow playing or file transfer of music obtained by other services. I have also heard (have not verified) that the music downloaded is automatically deleted after a certain time.

Rhapsody offers a 14-day free trial but if the service is canceled during the trial period, they will go ahead and bill you for the service anyway (I have had this experience and have seen at least 15 others who have experienced the same problem). If you get this service, you will almost definitely regret it.

In summary, I would not recommend Rhapsody to a friend.
